TriZetto and CIGNA Team Up to Offer National Solutions for Benefits Administrators and Their Employer Customers

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - July 7, 2009 - The TriZetto Group, Inc. today announced an alliance with CIGNA to offer access to the health service company's products and services for those organizations using TriZetto's QicLink™ health benefits administration system.

This joint offering is yet another step forward for TriZetto's Premier Partnership ProgramTM, which brings to the benefits administration market information systems and services that improve efficiency, competitive advantage and management of plan risk.

"This alliance is a win for CIGNA, TriZetto, third-party administrators and the smaller businesses these TPAs serve," said Ron Vance, CIGNA. "TriZetto will help us connect better with third-party administrators in the small, self-funded group market and at the same time help these TPAs be even more competitive as they improve their customers' health care costs."

According to Vance, the alliance will support CIGNA's ability to further engage the small-business market segment by enabling TriZetto's TPA clients to provide a national solution that offers both a foundation of increased plan savings for employer customers and broad choice for members. The alliance also incorporates CIGNA's advanced medical management program to objectively monitor, evaluate and manage the provision of healthcare-related services.

"We believe that this unique combination of CIGNA's product offering and TriZetto's business process outsourcing (BPO) services, integrated with our QicLink core administration technology, enables our clients to deliver unparalleled, affordable benefit offerings and administration solutions to the self-funded markets that they serve," stated Joe Manheim, senior vice president of benefits administration and care management for TriZetto. "TPAs using the QicLink system will be able to use the superior provider quality, accessibility and savings programs associated with CIGNA, previously not available to most benefit administrators, as a foundation for their risk management strategy, especially when combined with other TriZetto Premier Partners."

Under the TriZetto/CIGNA model, the management services function delivered by TriZetto supports access to the CIGNA products and services for any QicLink system client regardless of its application implementation type - license, hosted or outsourced services. Aggregate claims management services, including claim processing and provider customer service, for groups accessing CIGNA products will be delivered by TriZetto's BPO function.
